SAP SuccessFactors 2018 Q4: mobilising and simplifying HR

Emma Matthys - - Insights

The last SAP SuccessFactors release of 2018 has arrived, with some interesting early Christmas presents for all of us. Updates include mobile enhancements, optimised talent pool processes for recruiters and features that simplify HR administration. Get back on track with this overview.

Mobile experiences for employee talent management

SAP SuccessFactors is introducing a mobile-first series of enhancements designed to harness the value of your talent solutions, specifically for your employees. This release lets them use their SAP SuccessFactors Mobile app to:

  • create achievements and activities and mark them as complete directly from within the learning history screen;
  • efficiently find specific performance forms via the ‘search for forms’ search box;
  • access a personal growth profile where they can experience a single view of their relevant talent and learning data including performance goals, CPM activities, CPM achievements, feedback, and learning history.

Employee Central simplifies HR administration

In this release, HR managers and admins can now create concurrent employment immediately when employees are hired. These enhancements simplify administrative HR tasks and improve the efficiency of HR operations.

There is also a new streamlined employee view for time off, so make sure to check the release documentation about this in the customer community.

Improved recruiter experience

Talent pools have been around for a few releases now and we’re happy to announce new improvements – this time for talent pool population. Recruiters can now add one or more candidates to specific talent pools from within the candidate overview of a requisition. There is even less work for recruiters if they use the ‘autopopulation’ function, which automatically adds candidates that match specific search criteria to a specified talent pool. When a new candidate fits the specified criteria, they will be pushed to the talent pool without any work for the recruiter.

Additionally, email capabilities now include branding for one-to-one correspondence for enhanced candidate communications and recruiters can now schedule the delivery of e-mail campaigns to candidates. If you have ‘Apply with LinkedIn’ active, be sure the check the Upgrade Center as a new version is available and mandatory if you want to continue to use this feature.

Universal push of the Report Center

The new Report Center will be available to all customers in Q2 2019 in a test environment and in production by Q3 2019. You can activate the updated reporting view via the Upgrade Center in your test environment to start learning how to work with this more streamlined and centralised version.

Coming up soon: picklist migration

Not technically part of the 2018 release but coming up soon: SAP SuccessFactors is migrating legacy picklists to MDF picklists. After migration is complete, picklists in these instances should function for end users just as before in the user interface, but are managed using a new Picklist Center admin tool. With the new Picklist Center, you won’t have to deal with .csv files anymore, as no more export and import is needed. It’s a much requested and long-awaited update.

Customers will receive an email from SuccessFactors Support with the subject ‘Picklist Migration Schedule – Preview & Production Instances’, containing the dates for the migration in their preview and production environments. Check the Picklist Migration Guide and the Customer Community for more information on the picklist migration process.
