SAP SuccessFactors 2019 Q1: a wealth of exciting spring innovations

Flore Ardies Flore Ardies - - Insights

This year, the Easter bunny brought more than just chocolate eggs. Look closely, and you’ll find several surprising new SAP SuccessFactors features. What are they, and how do they help your organisation? Let’s dive in!

New and improved time attendance management

The biggest win in this first quarterly release is, without a doubt, the partnership between SAP SuccessFactors and Kronos. As a reseller of the Kronos Workforce Dimensions solution, SAP has added SAP Time Management by Kronos to its SuccessFactors Employee Central Time Management portfolio.

The new solution supports workforce scheduling, time tracking and leave management. It’s a great fit for complex organisations, but can be used by businesses of all sizes, in diverse industries. Of course, SAP Time Management by Kronos seamlessly integrates with your familiar SAP environment.

Core HR: improved appearance and performance

The fresh layout given to the SAPUI5 Grid in Employee Central enhances the readability of background data and takes the overall consistency of the interface to the next level.

On top of the new look, the business rules also got an update. By enabling or disabling trigger rules, it becomes easier to troubleshoot which rule is causing an exception. Additionally, you can restrict rules to specific contexts, identify whether rules are in use in any context, and view rule assignments. Also, XML-based propagation is replaced by business rules-based propagation. No worries: existing propagations in your system will be migrated automatically.

And that’s not all! More updates to the Core HR include:

  • New features in the SAP SuccessFactors mobile app, facilitating the use of the Employee Central Global Benefits solution. The result: submitting and tracking claims and receipts as well as opting out of enrolled benefits is now much easier.
  • Import legal entities and the bank repository from SAP S/4HANA Cloud into SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central to avoid double maintenance in multiple systems, which enhances accuracy.
  • Improved ‘view’ and ‘edit’ functions in the One-Time Payment Portlet: the system now only displays selected payments for specific years in the view screen, and the plus icon for editing payments is removed for increased clarity.
  • Easily add internal and external hyperlinks in the People Profile as an administrator.
  • Edit large MDF picklists, with over 200 values, in the Picklist Center.
  • Apply the four-eye principle to workflow approval, ensuring that a workflow initiator cannot approve his own request.
  • Localisation for two new countries: Angola and Malawi.

Enhanced user experience for internal and external job candidates

With the new releases, you can automatically post jobs from SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting to Facebook Jobs and to your organisation’s Facebook page. Additionally, recruiting solutions are now integrated with SAP SuccessFactors Visa and Permit Management, allowing you to manage visa and permit issuance as part of the recruiting process.

An effective HR strategy doesn’t stop with external candidate relationship management, however. It also requires solid relationships with internal candidates. That’s why the Career Site Builder now allows you to create an internal career site, helping you to provide a great user experience to all candidates, recruiters and administrators. The new feature allows you to build an internal talent pool, set up targeted e-mail campaigns and make smart use of landing pages to inspire internal candidates.

Collaborating with colleagues as it should be

No more hassle when copying and sharing presentations in SAP SuccessFactors HCM Suite: the quarterly release makes this feature much more user-friendly, facilitating collaboration amongst content owners.

What’s more, all internet browsers now offer a click-to-edit functionality, making it even easier to work on Microsoft Office documents on the SAP Jam™ platform. Simply save or close an edited document, and it will automatically be uploaded back to the SAP Jam™ group.

In-depth follow-up in Succession and Development

This spring release enhances the search functionalities in SAP SuccessFactors Succession and Development, giving you a more in-depth view. Queries in the Development Plan v12 now show – in addition to names – direct reports, the positions of managers and peers, as well as inactive, global assignment and concurrent users.

With the new and intuitive Fiori-based Lineage Chart v12 you can check overall succession coverage below a given position, instead of only four hierarchy levels of successors. Simply clicking the icon next to the name of a user shows you their Talent Card.

Boost engagement with Goals and Performance

The same enhancements mentioned above for the Succession and Development search functionalities, are also included in the Goals and Performance module. But there’s more: in Continuous Performance Management, it’s now possible to decline feedback requests, which are then automatically removed from your to-do list.

Moreover, the performance of the overall module is improved by limiting the number of tabs and pages displayed in search results. Additionally, users can now manage their Career Development Goal Plan via the mobile application. Lastly, 360 Reviews 2.0 offers a complete overview of employee performance to support you in coaching and development. The famous Fiori user-friendliness of all these features enhances employee engagement, ultimately benefiting talent development throughout your organisation.
